Storing your photographs on your hard drive or in their original albums is not enough to keep them safe. While this may work for a few years, preserving your heritage for grandchildren and future generations requires a lot more planning.

Not only are your photographs at risk of theft and fire, but files get corrupted, formats change, and storage media like floppy disks and CDs have limited lives.

It’s a universal problem: museums, art institutes and governments spend millions of dollars each year researching ways to preserve information. The U.S Constitution on display at the National Archives in Washington DC has faded almost beyond recognition. Even though the original copy has a limited number of years before completely disappearing, the information is in no danger of being lost. So many copies of the document are in existence that even a nuclear war cannot destroy them all.

We don't use a bomb shelter to secure your photos, but we do make many robust and cost-effective copies. After restoring all your photographs, we use long-lasting formats to make backups, backups and more backups.

We transfer your photos to their own online gallery where they are accesible to your entire family. We also send you an archival DVD or CD of all your restored images and keep a copy on our servers and in a fire-proof safe*. In the unlikely event that all these copies were damaged or destroyed, there are services like www.archive.org that regularly and automatically archive the web.

The Limelight preservation package is Included in our Family Restoration and Album Renewal packages.

*Fire-proof safe storage with additional charge.

Archival DVDs

Some less expensive brands of DVDs only last a few years before becoming unreadable.

Limelight has carefully researched the wide array of DVDs on the market and chosen the highest quality DVD, which we use to store your valuable images.
